Question by youve got one life to live:]: help! I need some ideas??
Hey,
I’m a 18 years old girl, I just bought my first house and need some design ideas for my master bedroom. I did the bathroom, office and two guest rooms, but I’m drawing complete blanks for my room. The feel of the whole house is modern/contemporary etcc. I’m just looking for some ideas for my room. I would like it to feel cozy and warm and to tie it into the whole house. Paint color ideas? What should I do or? anything… I’m putting out 00 to do my whole room. I already have furniture, bed/head board/footboard, plasma, and two side tables etc.. THANKS everyone=]

If you want it to look warm and inviting, use lots of pillows on the bed, soft lighting (canned up-lights, soft lamplight, etc.), fabric drapes and a few real plants. Select muted shades like sage green, dusty blue or tan instead of bright colors like yellow and red. Coordinating rugs are nice and will soften the room, too. Create a seating area if the room is large enough and add a few meaningful framed photos or art pieces on the walls. Avoid too many knick-knacks as it will make the room look cluttered.

You bought a house at age 18! Wow, that is impressive. You’re so much more mature than I was at 18yo.

Anyway, for your bedroom, I would suggest a light blue, like “hinting blue” by Sherwin Williams. And if you’d like, paint an accent wall behind your bed “searching blue.” Blue is great color for the bedroom because it’s calming & serene, making it easy for you to relax.

Check out some of these modern bedroom makeovers that HGTV did using light blue for some ideas. I love the first one with the blue & brown!
