Contact all the larger corporations and manufacturing facilities in your area. Ask if they have any surplus furniture that they would be willing to donate. Have your own truck to pick the items up. It saves them storage costs. They can’t sell the furniture for much and they will be able to take a tax deduction.
I recently closed a facility in the Chicago area and we couldn’t find where to give away our office furniture. Much of it was thrown away.

This is a great idea in theory, but it just doesn’t work. It takes a lot of effort to make this spin, so you end up only using the stuff on one side. The pen holder is open at the bottom, so if something that it too short is put or dropped in there, it’s stuck in the base. You can take everything out of the pen holder and try to dig it out with pliers or something similar, or take everything out of the entire holder and try to shake it out. I’ve even had to take the thing apart to get something out.
My main complaint with this should partially be directed at the Post-it company. The post-it section is used by sticking the backing of a pad into a slot which has teeth to hold on to it…. unfortunately the backing on post-its isn’t strong enough to hold the pad on, so you end up just ripping the entire pad off and using it just like you didn’t have a nifty holder. I’ve tried multiple types and brands of sticky pads with the same result. The flags tend to pull out of their slots as well after a few days. I’m really disappointed with this product.

My first impression when it arrived was that it was really bulky. It takes a lot of space in my desk, and does not provide as much storage as one would expect for something this size. The center cup, where pens, pencils and scissors go, is kind of small, and too deep (which makes it uncomfortable to reach for a pen). The tape, flags and sticky notes dispensers work good for me, but still I wouldn’t buy this organizer again.
